General information
Aquanorm is a medicine to correct balance of electrolytes in the body. It helps to treat acidosis. Circulation of the drug in blood system is short and it is quickly excreted from the organism by kidneys. Aquanorm stimulates diuresis. Kidney failure can delay excretion of potassium. One Sachet contains Sodium chloride 3.5 g, Potassium chloride 2.5 g, 2.9 g of sodium citrate, Glucose (anhydrous) 10.0 g. Aquanorm is used in complex therapy of acute diarrhea (including cholera), acidosis, and to restore water-electrolyte balance. It also can be used to support water-electrolyte balance during intensive physical activity and in patience with intense sweating.
Directions
Aquanorm is administered orally, it can be taken with our without food. Sachet must be opened some time before the intake and dissolved in one liter of boiled and cooled water. Solution of Aquanorm should be taken fresh and stored in the refrigerator not longer than 24 hours. For treatment of diarrhea the drug is administered to take once every 3-5 minutes or through a nasal-gastric probe by 50-100 ml portions during 3-5 hours. Infants and little children should take 1-2 teaspoons of once every 5-10 minutes for 4-6 hours (if it is a mild form of diarrhea total volume of solution should be 40-50 ml per kg a day. To treat a moderate diarrhea children total intake is 80-10 ml per kg a day. For maintenance therapy approximate volume of the solution is 80-100 ml per kg a day to stop diarrhea and restore water-electrolyte balance. To treat damage caused by overheating of body and dehydration (polyuria , thirst amplification), water-electrolyte disorders take Aquanorm by 100-150 ml portions first 30 minutes so the whole taken volume of the solution is 500-900 ml. Then take the same dose every 40 minutes in case of water-electrolyte deficit to eliminate the symptoms of heat to the body. In case if you have extreme thermal and physical activity at a time, add Aquanorm to water in order to prevent electrolyte imbalance, take Aquanorm by small portions, drops to quench your thirst.

Contraindications
Don’t take Aquanorm in case you have high sensitivity to the drug components, renal functional disorders, diabetes mellitus.

There are no known side effects for Aquanorm.
Drug interactions
Tell your doctor about all other medications you use. Tell your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Don't take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Interaction of Aquanorm with other medications and any symptoms of overdose are not known.
Storage
Prepared solution of Aquanorm is stored in a refrigerator (2-8 C) not longer than 24 hours! Shelf life of Sachet is 3 years. Keep Sachets at 10-25 C temperature, in conditions protected from light, out of reach of children.
