Moxin contains oxifloxacin, it is fluoroquinolone. It works by killing sensitive bacteria blocking their ability to propagate. It is used to treat pneumonia, bronchitis, local skin infections.
Patients should take 400 mg of Moxin once a day. Treatment of chronic bronchitis continues 5 days, community-acquired pneumonia does for 10 days, and 7 days for acute sinusitis, infections of the skin and soft tissues.
Caution is needed when Moxin is administered to patients with epilepsy, liver failure. Therapy with fluoroquinolones may develop inflammation and tendon rupture, particularly in elderly patients and in patients treated with corticosteroids. When first signs of pain or inflammation of tendons appear, patients should discontinue treatment and try not to strain the affected limb.
This medicine cannot be prescribed to children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or patients with hypersensitivity to the drug.
Possible side effects
Side effects of these medicine mostly have relation to gastrointestinal track and include abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, dyspepsia, flatulence, constipation, increase in liver transaminases, taste perversion. You can also feel dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, asthenia, headache, tremor, paresthesia, pain in the legs, cramps, confusion, depression, tachycardia, peripheral edema, increased blood pressure, palpitations, chest pain, pain in the back, arthralgia, myalgia, vaginal candidiasis, and vaginitis, rash, pruritus, urticaria. If you got any of them, inform you doctor immediately.
Co-administration with antacids, minerals, multivitamins impairs absorption (due to the formation of chelate complexes) and reduces concentration of moxifloxacin in plasma (thus, these medicactions should b taken 4 hours before or 2 hours after taking of moxifloxacin). phototoxic reactions are posible when moxifloxacin is taken together with other fluoroquinolones. Ranitidine reduces absorption of moxifloxacin.
Never take more than prescribed dose, even if you missed the one. Try to take it as soon as possible. Or, if it's too late, just skip it and take your usually dose next day in the same regularly time.
Symptoms of overdose include can include irregular heartbeat. Perform gastric lavage and take activated carbon. Contact your doctor immediately if you suppose that you took too much of this medicine.
Store at room temperature between 68-77 F (20-25 C), in a dark and dry place. Save it from children and pets. Watch the expiration date!
